AirAsia Offers 22,000 Fixed-Fare Seats To Sabah, Sarawak For Hari Raya: Deputy Transport Minister

AirAsia announced a total of 22,000 seats have been allocated for late-night flights between Peninsular Malaysia and East Malaysia, offering fixed fares to mitigate any potential price surges during the holiday period.

Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Hasbi Habibollah said the initiative was part of his commitment to allow more Sabahans and Sarawakians to return to their hometowns for the festive season.

“AirAsia took its own initiative to introduce additional night flights, and there are 22,000 seats available to Sabah and Sarawak.

“This is to ensure that everyone can return to their villages for Hari Raya and that there is no price surge on the day of the celebration,” he said.

Datuk Hasbi expressed his support for the initiative, stating that it aligns with the government’s efforts to enable more Sabahans and Sarawakians to reunite with their families for Hari Raya.

He highlighted the importance of early planning for those intending to travel by air or road, emphasizing the need for caution and preparedness, especially for motorists.

Speaking at a recent event at the Baitul Iman Mosque, Hasbi emphasised the significance of ensuring smooth and affordable travel arrangements for all citizens during this festive season.

He urged Sarawakians residing in the peninsula to make early travel plans, while also advising travelers to remain vigilant against potential price gouging by unscrupulous parties.

Hasbi encouraged the public to report any instances of exorbitant ticket pricing to relevant authorities, including the Sarawak Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board and the Road Transport Department.
