Zoom Launches AI-Powered Workplace Platform to Enhance Team Collaboration

Zoom Video Communications, Inc. (Zoom) has taken a significant step forward with the introduction of Zoom Workplace, an AI-powered collaboration platform designed to transform the way teams work together. Alongside, the company has expanded its AI Companion features, marking a significant enhancement in productivity and efficiency within the modern workspace.

Zoom Workplace integrates various tools and applications into a singular AI-powered platform, aiming to simplify collaboration and improve productivity for its users, the company said in a statement to Business Today.

This platform encompasses new AI Companion functionalities for Zoom Phone and additional capabilities with Ask AI Companion, offering a refreshed user interface within the Zoom app among other advancements. These innovations are set to enrich the customer experience, particularly in Zoom Contact Center, by enabling businesses to fortify customer relationships and leverage real-time AI-powered insights to enhance live agent engagements.

According to Smita Hashim, Zoom’s Chief Product Officer, the integration of AI Companion into Zoom Workplace is a ‘game-changer’, promising to address customer issues by amalgamating core collaboration solutions. This initiative is expected to boost productivity, efficiency, and overall workday experience, within the trusted Zoom environment.

Zoom’s commitment to embedding AI across its platform is evident in its latest offering, which includes enhancements such as Ask AI Companion. This feature acts as a digital assistant, preparing users for their workday by synthesising information from various Zoom services like Meetings, Mail, and Team Chat.

Team Chat and Whiteboard have also received upgrades, with AI Companion assisting in smart scheduling and enabling users to generate and refine whiteboard flowcharts and mind maps with simple prompts. These features are aimed at sparking creativity and facilitating easier ideation processes.

Zoom Workplace emphasises customisation and flexibility. The platform allows users to personalise their experience with options like colour themes and virtual meeting backgrounds. Additionally, a new Meetings tab has been introduced to streamline collaboration before, during, and after meetings, enhancing the continuity of discussions and project collaborations.

The platform also caters to hybrid and onsite organisations by simplifying office navigation through features like Workspace Reservation and Visitor Management. Moreover, Zoom Rooms can be expanded with companion devices, and new integrations, such as with Workvivo, will enable broadcasting of important updates and events directly through Zoom Rooms.

Zoom’s AI-powered innovations extend to its business services, with Zoom Contact Center incorporating AI Companion to enrich customer care, marketing, and sales. The platform now supports additional digital communication channels like WhatsApp and inbound email, alongside custom app integration for a seamless agent experience.
