Amanah Raya Berhad (AmanahRaya) has issued an explanation to clarify the content of a message which went viral via social media application, Whatsapp regarding the issue of nominees in accessing contributions in respect of Employees’ Provident Fund (KWSP) members. The message stated that if a member has nominated either 1 or 2 persons, but then a nominee dies before the contributor (or one of the 2 nominees dies before the member), then the entire nomination appointment process with be regarded NULL AND VOID automatically and the EPF will channel the amounts held to AmanahRaya.
Amanah Raya’s Rationale
The validity of the total content of the viral message is FALSE and only CONFUSES THE PUBLIC.
AmanahRaya, at all times may be appointed as Administrator or Trustee by the following institutions: (a) Court; (b) Small Estate Office; or (c) AmanahRaya itself under the Amanah Raya Corporation Act 1995. All estates administered by AmanahRaya will only be divided among the legal heirs according to the provisions of applicable law.
EPF members’ contributions will only be channelled to Amanah Raya if:
(a) AmanahRaya has been appointed as Administrator to the estate of deceased EPF members; or
(b) AmanahRaya is appointed as Trustee for the part of the heirs of EPF members who are under age; or AmanahRaya is appointed as Trustee for the disabled because they do not have the legal capacity to receive, manage and/or hold the EPF savings.
