PADU Reopens Due To Implementation Issues

The government has announced the reopening of the System Pangkalan Data Utama (PADU) registration system for its second phase. This move aims to allow individuals who have not yet registered to update their information within the specified period.

Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli emphasised that the reopening is crucial for improving public awareness of PADU’s importance.

“The government urges all parties to cooperate in raising awareness about the significance of using PADU data.

In the future, PADU data will be a key reference for forming government intervention programs and identifying recipients of assistance,” Rafizi said during a Dewan Rakyat session.

Rafizi’s comments were in response to a question from Datuk Anyi Ngau (GPS-Baram) about the current status of PADU in Sarawak and measures to ensure that the B40 group in Sarawak is not left out of PADU’s benefits.

By the end of Phase One registration in March, a total of 10,544,016 individuals had updated their information in the system. Of these, 1,071,796 were from Sarawak. Rafizi noted that the Sarawak government had previously decided to postpone PADU registration in the state.

Rafizi explained that the goal of PADU is to enhance the efficiency of policy planning and resource allocation, particularly in targeting subsidies and government assistance more effectively.

“The government is committed to ensuring the well-being of the people in line with the objectives of the 12th Malaysia Plan (RMK12), aiming to make Malaysia a sustainable, prosperous, and high-income nation,” he added.
