Bursa Malaysia Sees Flat Close Amid Profit-Taking & Telecom Weakness

Bursa Malaysia ended the day nearly unchanged as profit-taking in the final trading hour erased earlier gains, particularly impacted by weaknesses in telecommunication stocks, according to an analyst.

By the 5pm close, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) edged down by 0.24 points to 1,597.96, retreating from Monday’s finish at 1,598.20.

Starting slightly higher at 1,598.58, the benchmark index fluctuated between 1,595.62 and 1,602.52 during the trading session.

Market activity saw more gainers than decliners, with 715 stocks advancing against 459 declining ones. There were 469 counters unchanged, while 746 remained untraded and eight were suspended.

Total turnover surged to 5.39 billion units valued at RM3.99 billion, up from the previous day’s 3.66 billion units worth RM2.77 billion.
