Bank Negara Malaysia Issues Commemorative Coins For 75th Anniversary Of Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara

Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) today announced the release of special commemorative coins to mark the 75th anniversary of Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara (JPN). These limited-edition coins will be available in two denominations, showcasing unique designs that celebrate the significant milestone of JPN.

Sterling Silver (Proof) Commemorative Coin

Malaysia’s first rectangular-shaped commemorative coin is made of sterling silver with a purity of 92.5%. Weighing 32.7 grams, the coin has a face value of RM10 and will be sold at RM330 per piece. The mintage is limited to 1,000 pieces.

Nordic Gold Brilliant Uncirculated (B.U.) Commemorative Coin

This coin, composed of copper and other metals, weighs 8.5 grams and carries a face value of RM1. It will be available for purchase at RM16.50 per piece, with a total mintage of 5,000 pieces.

Set of 2 Coins

For collectors, a special set comprising one coloured sterling silver-proof coin and one Nordic gold-proof coin will be available. Priced at RM385 per set, only 1,000 sets will be offered.

Coin Designs

The Sterling Silver (Proof) Coin features:

  • Obverse: The text “JUBLI INTAN” (diamond jubilee) at the top, silhouettes of Malaysian citizens symbolizing JPN’s role in registration, stylized folders representing the diversity of records, and an iris symbolizing JPN’s digital transformation.
  • Reverse: The text “BANK NEGARA MALAYSIA” at the top, JPN’s 75th-anniversary logo on the right, a fingerprint on the left, and the face value “10 RINGGIT” at the bottom left.

The Nordic Gold (B.U.) Coin features:

  • Obverse: The text “JABATAN PENDAFTARAN NEGARA” at the top and “JUBLI INTAN” at the bottom, with a fingerprint encircled by icons representing JPN’s key roles.
  • Reverse: The text “BANK NEGARA MALAYSIA” at the top left, JPN’s 75th-anniversary logo on the right, and the face value “1 RINGGIT” at the bottom left against a MyKad silhouette.

Sale of Commemorative Coins

To ensure fair access, the public is limited to purchasing one Set of 2, one coloured sterling silver (proof) coin, and up to five Nordic gold B.U. coins per person. Orders can be placed at duit.bnm.gov.my from 11:00 a.m. on Monday, 1 July 2024, to 11:00 p.m. on Sunday, 14 July 2024. All orders will be considered without reference to the order date and time. In the case of oversubscription, a balloting process will be conducted.
