Tourism Minister Suspends Travel Agency License After Genting Crash

Tourism Minister Tiong King Sing has suspended the license of a tour bus operator following a tragic accident in Genting Highlands that claimed the lives of two tourists from China.

The accident occurred as the bus, a popular choice for travelers visiting the holiday destination in Pahang, was descending the highlands. An investigation revealed alarming details: the driver had accumulated over 27 traffic summonses, and the tour bus was operating without a valid license.

Travel agencies have often been reminded to strictly adhere to safety guidelines when organising tours. The frequent occurrence of bus crashes has tarnished the reputation of the tourism industry, highlighting the urgent need for stricter enforcement of safety regulations.
