Bursa Malaysia closed the week on a positive note, mirroring the strong performance seen across the region, driven primarily by increased buying in telecommunications stocks.
By 5 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) climbed 0.33% or 5.15 points to reach an intraday peak of 1,590.09, up from Thursday’s close of 1,584.94.
The benchmark index started the day weaker, opening at 1,583.5KLCI) which had briefly dipped to a low of 1,581.52 during early trading.
In the broader market, gainers outnumbered decliners significantly, with 673 stocks advancing compared to 411 declining ones. There were 488 counters unchanged, while 841 remained untraded and 45 were suspended.
Total turnover saw an improvement, reaching 4.30 billion units valued at RM3.08 billion, compared to yesterday’s 4.23 billion units worth RM3.13 billion.
