MOH Launches 1st Phase Of National Health Demand And Supply Study

The Ministry of Health (MOH) has launched the Phase 1 of the National Health Demand and Supply Study, aimed at mapping the landscape of Malaysia’s healthcare for the next two decades.

In collaboration with the World Bank Group, the study focuses on a comprehensive analysis of the healthcare situation across the country, encompassing aspects of health facilities, equipment, and human resources.

MOH stated in a press release today that the study aims to address the imbalance in the distribution of the nation’s healthcare resources, covering hospitals and clinics, specialized services, and high-tech equipment.

“By setting national standards for critical health assets, MOH is working towards improving a more balanced, sustainable, and efficient health system. This study will forecast the nation’s health needs up to 2045, ensuring Malaysia is prepared to meet the growing needs of its population while aiding in Malaysia’s transition towards becoming a high-income nation,” MOH said.

Therefore, MOH urges both the public and private health sectors to participate in the online survey before July 15, 2024, to shape a better future for healthcare in Malaysia and to ensure that every citizen has access to the best healthcare services.

According to MOH, the data obtained from the survey is confidential and will not be shared with parties outside the study team.
