MAHB Share Sale To Be Hotly Debated

The Dewan Rakyat sitting today will highlight the sale of Malaysia Airport Holdings Berhad (MAHB) shares to Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP). This significant issue will be addressed during the Minister’s question time, as detailed in the Order Paper published on the Parliament’s official website.

Datuk Mohd Shahar Abdullah (BN-Paya Besar) will raise a question to the Prime Minister regarding the government-linked consortium of investment companies involved in the MAHB share sale. This topic is expected to draw considerable attention during the session.

Additionally, Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden (PN-Alor Setar) will question the government’s strategy following Malaysia’s drop to the 34th position in the World Competitiveness Ranking 2024. This concern reflects the ongoing scrutiny of Malaysia’s economic standing on the global stage.

During the Oral Question and Answer Session, Manndzri Nasib (PN-Tenggara) will inquire about the assistance provided to homebuyers facing issues with ‘sick’ housing projects, particularly those under the people’s housing initiative. This question is directed to the Housing and Local Government Minister.

Datuk Siti Zailah Mohd Yusoff (PN-Rantau Panjang) will ask the Health Minister about the number of cases reported through the National Mental Health Crisis Line and the follow-up actions taken to address these cases. This inquiry underscores the importance of mental health support in the country.

Following the Q&A session, the sitting will continue with the second reading of the Employees’ Social Security (Amendment) Bill 2024, presented by the Human Resources Minister. The minister will also table the Employment Insurance System (Amendment) Bill 2024, indicating a busy legislative agenda.

The Second Meeting of the Third Term of the 15th Parliament is scheduled to run until July 18, ensuring a thorough discussion of these and other pressing issues facing the nation.
