FBM KLCI Declines As Investors Shifts From Blue Chips To Small Caps

Bursa Malaysia’s main index experienced a slight decline today as investors shifted focus towards small-cap stocks, leading to selling pressure among most heavyweights.

At 12:30 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) retreated by 3.89 points to 1,610.48 from the previous close of 1,614.37. The decline was primarily attributed to losses in Petronas counters.

Despite opening 2.63 points higher at 1,617.0, the benchmark index fluctuated between 1,609.26 and 1,617.37 during the morning trading session.

Nevertheless, the market breadth remained positive, with gainers outnumbering decliners at 611 to 536. Additionally, 451 counters remained unchanged, with 802 untraded and nine others suspended.
