Housewarming for Sunway International School New Campus

Sunway International School (SIS) Sunway City Kuala Lumpur recently hosted a housewarming session to mark the opening of the new campus at USJ 1. 

The new campus which opened in January 2023, conducts programmes for kindergarten, primary school (Grades 1-5), middle school (Grades 6-8), high school (Grades 9-11) according to the Canadian (Ontario) Curriculum and pre-university (Grades 11-12) according to International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). 

“It all began in 2008 from a small building with 25 students, Sunway International School in Sunway City Kuala Lumpur has now expanded with a new 8-acre green-certified campus that will accommodate up to 3,000 students covering kindergarten to pre-university levels,” shared Professor Dato’ Elizabeth Lee, CEO of Sunway Education Group. 

The housewarming event was attended by David Wallace, Deputy High Commissioner of British High Commission Kuala Lumpur; Ryan Baerg, Senior Trade Commissioner (Commercial) of Canada High Commission Kuala Lumpur; Faizol Musa, Senior Development Manager at International Baccalaureate; representatives from Jabatan Pendidikan Negeri Selangor, Ezani Yusof and Puan Husna; Professor Andy Schofield, Vice-Chancellor of Lancaster University; Professor Andrew James Abbott, Academic Dean – Lancaster Programmes at Sunway University; Dr Cheng Mien Wee, Executive Director – Sunway International School; Heath Kondro, Director and Principal of Canadian International School & Matriculation Programme, Sunway International School; and Ng Kim Huat, Country Director of Cambridge International for Malaysia and Brunei.

The only school in Malaysia offering the globally recognised Canadian (Ontario) school curriculum and the International Baccalaureate programme, SIS is supported by qualified academic team comprising of teachers from Canada and other countries. SIS is also licensed by the Ontario Ministry of Education, Canada.

The new campus facilities include 74 classrooms with interactive whiteboards, rooms for drama and theatre, arts and music, language lab, science lab and a technology lab fitted with the latest equipment. Other facilities included Olympic-size swimming pool, a football field and a large multipurpose hall with a capacity of up to 2,000 students for events and activities.
