RHB Appoints Suzaizi Mohamad Morshid As Group Treasurer

RHB Banking Group (“RHB” or the “Group”) today announced the appointment of Suzaizi Bin Mohamad Morshid as Group Treasurer, effective from 1 July 2024. Suzaizi succeeds Angus Salim Bin Salleh Amran, who has assumed the role of Head of Sustainable Finance for Group Wholesale Banking (“GWB”) with immediate effect.

In his new capacity, Suzaizi will oversee RHB’s treasury business, encompassing liquidity management, fixed-income investments, and the sales and trading of various asset classes across the treasury product spectrum. The Group Treasury, under Suzaizi’s leadership, plays a pivotal role within RHB’s Group Wholesale Banking division.

Suzaizi brings with him over 25 years of extensive experience in the financial market industry. His career at RHB, which commenced in 2008 as Treasurer for RHB Islamic Bank, has been marked by notable achievements and strategic leadership. He has held key positions, including Head of Group Funding & Liquidity Management, from 2014 to 2021. Notably, his recent tenure as Head of Group Sales saw him lead the foreign exchange and derivatives trading team to win the prestigious “Best FX Bank” accolade from the Global Banking & Finance Awards for two consecutive years.

Dato’ Fad’l Mohamed, Managing Director of Group Wholesale Banking at RHB Banking Group, expressed his confidence in Suzaizi, stating, “We are delighted to appoint Suzaizi to the role of Group Treasurer. With his profound expertise in financial markets and demonstrated leadership, he will play a crucial role in steering RHB’s global markets business to new heights.”

Suzaizi holds a Bachelor of Economics from Flinders University, Australia, and is a professional member of the Financial Markets Association Malaysia, underscoring his qualifications and deep understanding of the financial industry landscape.

In parallel, Angus Salim Bin Salleh Amran, the newly appointed Head of Sustainable Finance at Group Wholesale Banking, brings over three decades of comprehensive experience in financial markets to his new role. Angus has held senior leadership positions in Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, and London. His tenure at RHB since 2013 includes leading the Financial Management Team and serving as Group Treasurer from 2021 onwards, making him well-suited for his new responsibilities in sustainable finance.

In his new role, Angus will spearhead RHB’s sustainable financial services initiatives, focusing on developing and implementing strategies to promote sustainable financial services growth. His responsibilities include advising customers on their ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) transition journey, driving product innovation, enhancing organizational capabilities, and ensuring compliance with evolving ESG regulations and trends.

As RHB continues to strengthen its leadership team, these strategic appointments highlight the group’s commitment to advancing its treasury operations and sustainable finance agenda in the evolving financial landscape.
