BlackRock Investment In Malaysia Takes Center Stage At Dewan Rakyat Sitting

Today’s Dewan Rakyat sitting will feature discussions on BlackRock and its affiliate companies’ significant investments in Malaysia, marking a focal point of parliamentary deliberations.

Lim Guan Eng (PH-Bagan), during the Minister’s Question Time session, will raise inquiries to the Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry regarding BlackRock’s investment locations within Malaysia. He seeks to understand the potential economic impacts should these longstanding investments face withdrawal.

Additionally, Datuk Ahmad Yunus Hairi (PN-Kuala Langat) will question the Health Minister on the distinctions between local university training programs and Parallel Pathway foreign training skill programs. He will also inquire about the estimated costs involved in government-sponsored specialized training initiatives.

Further discussions will include Aminolhuda Hassan (PH-Sri Gading) urging the Foreign Minister to outline Malaysia’s benefits following strengthened relations with Central Asian countries, following Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s recent diplomatic visits to the region in mid-May.

In the Oral Question and Answer Session, Commander (R) Nordin Ahmad Ismail (PN-Lumut) will seek details from the Minister of Communications on measures undertaken to combat the proliferation of pornographic content on social media platforms, often used for promoting sex-related products.

Moreover, Lo Su Fui (GRS-Tawau) will address the Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs, seeking plans to standardize prices of goods across Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, and Sarawak. He will also inquire about strategies to curb the smuggling of subsidized necessities.

The agenda will also feature Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (PN-Pagoh), who will bring up the issue of the term “Allah.” He aims to receive updates from the Prime Minister on the establishment and progress of the Special Technical and Legal Documentation Committee concerning the Nik Elin case and related matters.

Following these deliberations, the Dewan Rakyat will proceed with the first reading of the Audit (Amendment) Bill 2024. Additionally, the second reading of the Limited Liability Partnerships (Amendment) Bill 2024 and ongoing debates on the Constitution (Amendment) Bill 2024 will continue.

The Second Meeting of the Third Term of the 15th Parliament, running for 15 days until July 18, underscores the importance of today’s discussions in shaping Malaysia’s legislative and economic landscape.
