Startup That Helps Branding For F&B SMEs Raises RM20 Million

BROKU, Malaysia’s food and beverage (F&B) branding and marketing strategist, is embarking on a significant expansion initiative aimed at bolstering the country’s vibrant F&B landscape. The company has set its sights on raising RM 20 million over the next 12 to 18 months to fund its ambitious growth plans.

According to Retail Group Malaysia, the Malaysian F&B kiosks and stalls sector saw a robust growth of 13.5% throughout 2023, underscoring BROKU’s strategic mission to support, structure, and empower the growth of local F&B micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

In alignment with this goal, BROKU is introducing its flagship product, Broku.com, a cutting-edge digital marketplace tailored specifically for the F&B industry. This platform harnesses data-driven technology to enhance user engagement and drive foot traffic to merchant outlets.

Since its inception, BROKU has successfully transformed nearly 10,000 restaurants, receiving additional support from angel investors amounting to RM 2.566 million. With the total funds raised, BROKU plans to expand its Malaysian team, augment its marketing efforts, enhance customer acquisition strategies, bolster technological infrastructure, and implement operational improvements.

Ku Addyfazly Ku Radin (Broku), Founder of BROKU, expressed his enthusiasm for this pivotal moment in the company’s journey, “Having dedicated over two decades to entrepreneurship, particularly in the F&B sector, this milestone marks a monumental achievement not only for myself but for BROKU as a whole. It’s been an honor to empower local F&B MSMEs since 2020, providing them with resources and knowledge crucial for their entrepreneurial success.”

BROKU aims to list 50,000 merchants on the Broku.com platform within the next 12 months, leveraging extensive transactional data and performance metrics to bridge the financing gap for underserved F&B merchants. Through initiatives like the BROKU Licensing Program (BLP), launched in April 2023, the company has already equipped 200 businesses with essential skills in online presence enhancement, marketing, supply chain management, and financial literacy.

“Our BLP has significantly uplifted the capabilities of F&B entrepreneurs, with participants experiencing growth rates between 35% to 90%,” Broku said.

“We’ve seen a remarkable 35.6% average revenue increase among program participants to date. With our funding target, we aim to expand our impact further, nurturing a new generation of resilient, growth-oriented Malaysian F&B entrepreneurs,” he added.
