Bursa Malaysia Continues Slide As Sector Profit-Taking Prevails

Bursa Malaysia extended its decline for the fourth consecutive day, driven by profit-taking activities observed across the construction, telecommunications, utilities, and energy sectors, according to an analyst.

As of 5pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) retreated by 0.44% or 7.10 points to 1,592.69, down from Wednesday’s close of 1,599.79.

The benchmark index began the day 3.52 points lower at 1,596.27, reaching an intraday high before sliding to a low of 1,590.37 during the early morning session.

Across the broader market, decliners outnumbered gainers with 816 counters in decline against 352 advancing ones. Meanwhile, 447 counters remained unchanged, 797 were not traded, and 17 were suspended.

Trading volume declined to 5.03 billion units valued at RM3.42 billion, down from Wednesday’s 5.57 billion units worth RM4.06 billion.
