MACC Summons Three Felda Officers In Land Sale Investigation

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has summoned three officers from the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) to record their statements regarding the investigation into the alleged sale of Felda land in Melaka.

According to an MACC source, two of the officers were called in on Monday and Tuesday, while the third, a senior Felda officer, was summoned on Thursday.

“Today, we called a senior Felda officer to record his statement and obtain several documents to aid the investigation,” the source told Bernama.

The source further stated that no arrests have been made against any Felda officials thus far.

“The operation, dubbed ‘Ops Tanah Haram’, has been ongoing since Monday. It involves dismantling several agencies and entities that conspired in the syndicate to sell Felda land,” he said.

The MACC operation has uncovered and detained individuals, including brokers, bank officers, company directors, and members of the public. The operation also led to the seizure of 200 bank accounts with deposits exceeding RM28 million, including fake Felda bank accounts.

Datuk Mohamad Zamri Zainul Abidin, Director of the MACC Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Division, confirmed the investigation is being conducted under Section 16(a)(A) of the MACC Act 2009 and the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorist Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 (AMLATFPUAA).

“MACC will collaborate with Felda to resolve this issue in the public interest,” he said.

Felda, in a statement on Wednesday, asserted that no land owned by the agency has changed ownership or been sold in the alleged land sale syndicate. The agency pledged full cooperation with the authorities to ensure the investigation proceeds smoothly.

On 11 June, the media reported that the MACC arrested eight individuals, including three brokers, company directors, and two members of the public, aged between 20 and 50, in Kuala Lumpur and Sabah. They were detained for allegedly accepting nearly RM2 million in bribes from a syndicate involved in the sale of Felda land in Melaka.
